Meeting Yvonne and Sean by Woodstock Waterfall last November for their pre wedding shoot, I could tell Yvonne was going to be one easy going bride. Nothing phased her. We had already postponed due to bad weather and also for a black eye her husband to be, Sean, had managed to get himself. When we finally met, I had expected a bit of anxiety but she was as cool as a breeze, so happy to be there and full of excitement about their up coming wedding.
It turns out Yvonne is a fuss free type of woman. She and Sean have been together a long while, 15 years to be exact. When Sean popped the question 14 years ago it was an instant “Yes” from Yvonne, but there was no hurry on her up the aisle. Their lives were full and busy growing their family and welcoming their three wonderful children into the fold. The timing had never been right to get married until this January when all the stars aligned and they became Mr & Mrs Corcoran!
Getting ready at her childhood home Yvonne was as calm as a mill pond. There were no worries when I took her beautiful bridal gown outside to photograph in the cool winter sun. And not a bother on her as the hair and make up girls fussed around her and the bridal party.
The first flutter of excitement began to creep in as her beautiful daughter Danielle sat in the make up chair to get ready for her role as bridesmaid. It wasn’t long before it was time to don the dress. The atmosphere was full of emotion as both her Mam and Daughter helped her into the gorgeous gown.
Before the final touches, I asked both parents to wait outside for the big reveal. What a moment it was to see the surprise on their faces as they turned to see their only daughter in her wedding dress, adorned with a full length veil. Yvonne, ever the easy going bride was not going to ruin her day struggling in high heels and completed the ensemble with custom Converse!
There was just enough time for one last cuppa with Dad before hopping into a Rolls Royce and heading to the Medieval City of Kilkenny to marry the love of her life.
Sean and the boys were waiting patiently at the Set Theatre, greeting guests, chatting and laughing. Their oldest boy Jonathan was on ring duty and took pride in showing off the wedding bands to little brother Conor.
The music started, Sean, the boys and their room full of guests turned to see the beautiful bride make her way towards them down the aisle. Yvonne’s Dad was all smiles as he walked her to her groom. The family were reunited, it was time to get married!
Their ceremony was funny, spiritual and emotional. Seáns parents watched on beaming proudly as he said his vows, delighted to see their son so happy. Yvonne, calm and collected exchanged her vows to seal the deal and they were finally Husband and Wife!
Their wonderful celebrant Noelle Cody invited all three children to join their parents. Then, using ribbons she performed a handfasting ceremony. This is a beautiful ritual based on ancient Celtic tradition with the ribbon symbolising their commitment to each other.
A magical day turned into a magical night. The wonderful band Men In Black welcomed the brand new Mr & Mrs Corcoran to the dancefloor. Yvonne bouncing with happiness lead her new husband to the middle of the room. As she skipped, she slipped and tripped. There was a moment of pause as the crowd stood shocked not knowing how to react. But, like I said, nothing phased this bride. Yvonne, cool as a cucumber, got back on her feet, dusted down her dress and danced the night away….
